Tell us about you - the creator!
I am a 31 year old mother of one, happily married to a supportive nerd
man I met at Anime Central in 2005. I got my start making cosplay and
started selling gothic Lolita hair accessories. I've been knitting 13
years, crocheting 10 and sewing 10. I also cross stitch, do spindle
spin, and plan to begin weaving and lucet cording in 2015.
Describe your shop and what you sell
I started out with Lolita, specializing in plus sizes. I still make Lolita but discovered my true passion, Steampunk. I now make Steampunk
garments and accessories along side my Lolita. I recently started
selling knitted items of my own design, some inspired by fandom shows.
Coming soon are Steampunk outfits styled after well known characters.
What is your favorite item to make? Why?
Right now it's the Steampunk chokers. The first items I sold were Lolita headdresses and each one I made was one of a kind. The chokers
let me get back to my roots of one of a kind pieces while allowing me to
chase my passion of Victorian inspired pieces with outside of time
details.
How and when did you start your business?
I knew one day I wanted to be a mother and that being a stay at home mom
would be ideal. I decided to start building my business years before
children were an option so that I would have a following and a sense of
success, which led to a less stressful pregnancy and wonderful first
year as a mother raising a hopefully-as-nerdy-as-mom-and-dad baby.
Anything else you would like to add?
I work mostly on commission and in preparation for conventions, and love to see my work "in the wild" (on someone at an event).
Where can buyers find you?
Thank you so much for stopping by! I'll see you next week for another Sensational Shop Saturday!
