31 Days of Sensational Shops - Scrawny Girl

31 Days of Sensational Shops is a month long tour through geeky, fantasy and/or monster-filled shops in December. Please stick around to learn more about today's Sensational Shop!

Today's second Sensational Shop is Scrawny Girl - run by Shawna Miller!

Tell us about you - the creator!

My name is Shawna and I live in dusty Lubbock, Texas with my bass playing husband, darling daughter Amelia, and troublesome pup Loki. I love coffee, dying my hair, reading manga, thrifting, Dolly Parton, collecting/listening to vinyl, and anything cute!

Describe your shop and what you sell

Scrawny Girl is where I sell dolls, prints of illustrations and paintings, and screenprinted items. Most of my dolls are your favorite geeky characters, like Harry Potter, Dr. Horrible, and Sailor Scouts.

What is your favorite item to make? Why?

Right now I'm really focusing on making character dolls. It is definitely a challenge, but a fun challenge. My favorite doll so far has been my Sailor Mercury doll, with all her detailed embroidery work.

How and when did you start your business?

I just started my business this year, after I had my daughter. I wanted something creative to occupy my time now that I am a stay at home mom. The first dolls I made were actually given as Christmas gifts to my nieces.

Where can buyers find you?

Thank you so much for visiting and meeting Shawna Miller of Scrawny Girl! See you tomorrow for another Sensational Shop!
