Throwback Thursday - Craftypodes!

David and Kelly of Craftypodes have been working hard on new products! Let's see what they've been up to!

What does a typical day look like for you?

When everything goes according to plan? Breakfast, check in on Internet, bike ride, lunch, crafting... sprinkle in some "get stuff done around the house" and "self care as needed". The universe often laughs at our plan, though, so our intended schedule ends up being used more as a flexible guide to make sure things still get taken care of.

How do you take your caffeine?

Very sparingly, but it's soda when it happens. Except David is a caffeine-free root beer fan.

What do you know now that you wish you knew 6 months ago?

That DisneyNature's "Bears" was coming out soon and we should plan ahead to go see it during opening week. (We missed that.) Really, life is a series of learning experiences. It's probably not worth wishing you knew something any sooner than you learned it, because what if you lacked other knowledge before then and knowing just that one thing wouldn't have actually done you any good?

How has your shop grown in the past 6 months?

We've introduced new product lines that have brought us more sales, and we feel like we're kind of settling into our specialities as far as our chosen crafts go. David is much more focused on cross-stitch now. Kelly is really loving hand embroidery. We've connected with a lot of other great crafters and makers, been accepted into The Indie A-List, and we've seen our Twitter and Instagram followings grow and connect us with makers and fans in a way that we hadn't been getting on Facebook.

Where would you like to see your shop in the next 3 years?

We really believe in indie businesses as part of the new economy. We want to continue connecting with other makers and we love talking to people who love our work. It's difficult to make solid plans that far ahead when planning around medical issues, but this isn't just a hobby for us and we are focused on adapting as necessary so that we can keep sharing our work and contributing to the indie and handmade communities.

Their new hoop art is so epic!
